Tom Hardy is candid about his health issues, which seem to be “not going to get better.” The MobLand star opened up about his journey as an actor and also reflected on his earlier days in his career when he was battling an addiction problem.
Tom Hardy talks about his existing health issues
Inception star Tom Hardy does not want to hide his health struggles, which have been an ongoing issue for the actor. For Esquire‘s summer edition, Hardy sat down for a brutally honest chat about his life and his new project, MobLand.
The 47-year-old detailed the medical procedures that he underwent in the recent time. Hardy revealed, “I’ve had two knee surgeries now, my disc’s herniated in my back, and I’ve got sciatica as well.” He added that he might have plantar fasciitis as well.
Plantar fasciitis causes a stabbing pain in the bottom of one’s foot near the heel. As per Mayo Clinic, the condition “involves inflammation of a thick band of tissue that runs across the bottom of each foot and connects the heel bone to the toes.”
The Oscar-nominated actor seems confused about the origin of these constant health issues. Hardy complained, “I pulled my tendon in my hip as well. It’s like it’s all falling to bits now, and it’s not going to get better.”
The Revenant actor has often spoken openly about his addiction. In an old interview with Essentials magazine, Hardy disclosed how his addiction journey almost derailed his promising career.
He confessed, “I was told very clearly, ‘You go down that road, Tom, you won’t come back. That’s it. All you need to know.'” The actor added that the message of that ominous warning stayed with him for years. He added, “I am f—— lucky to be here, to be honest” (via Us Weekly).
