What happened to 3 Doors Down singer Brad Arnold?

Brad Arnold, the voice behind the iconic rock hits of 3 Doors Down, revealed on Wednesday, May 7, that he has been diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer. The frontman made the announcement through an Instagram video, sharing that doctors discovered he has clear cell renal carcinoma, which has spread to his lungs.

“I’ve been sick a couple of weeks ago and then went to the hospital and got checked out,” Arnold explained. “That’s when I got the diagnosis that I had clear cell renal carcinoma that had metastasized into my lung. And that’s stage 4, and that’s not real good.”

Despite the gravity of his condition, Arnold remains hopeful and grounded in his faith. “We serve a mighty God, and he can overcome anything,” he said. “So I have no fear. I really, sincerely am not scared of it at all.” However, he added that the band’s summer tour has been cancelled. It includes their planned appearances on the “Summer of ’99” tour alongside Creed, Daughtry, and others.

Arnold’s diagnosis has led to an outpouring of support from fans, many of whom have followed the Mississippi band since their early 2000s rise. Known for chart-topping hits like “Kryptonite,” “Here Without You,” and “It’s Not My Time,” Arnold referenced the latter song in his caption, writing, “Now, I believe ‘ITS NOT MY TIME’ is really my song.”

Clear cell renal cell carcinoma, which Arnold is battling, is the most common form of kidney cancer in adults. Moreover, it accounts for roughly 80% of renal cancer cases. It typically begins in the kidney’s filtering cells and, in advanced stages like Arnold’s, can spread to distant organs.
