Why Fans Think Blake Lively & Ryan Reynolds Won’t Attend Met Gala 2025

As Met Gala 2025 approaches this week, news has emerged that Blake Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds will not be attending the event. Fans are now eager to know the reason behind the stars’ absence.

Will Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds skip Met Gala 2025?

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds will not be attending the Met Gala this year.

A source close to the couple disclosed to TMZ in March that Lively and Reynolds will be skipping the 2025 Met Gala. Another exclusive source confirmed the news to PEOPLE, saying, “Blake and Ryan haven’t gone since 2022, when they were co-chairs, and they will not be in attendance this year.” The news comes amidst Lively’s ongoing legal battle against her It Ends with Us co-star and director Justin Baldoni.

This year’s Met Gala will commence on Monday, May 5, featuring the theme “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” All eyes are on the star-studded guest list with many A-listers already confirming their attendance.

Some of the biggest names gracing the Met Gala red carpet this year include seven-time Formula 1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton, Pharrell Williams, and Oscar-nominated actor Colman Domingo, among others.

Lively has been a celebrated attendee of the Met Gala for several years, known for her stunning and creative red carpet looks. She famously wore an Atelier Versace rose gold gown in 2022.

The look was a tribute to New York City architecture for the theme “In America: An Anthology of Fashion.” The gown opened up to reveal a stunning teal blue train representing the patinated copper on the Statue of Liberty.

However, it looks like we won’t be getting any unique get-ups from Lively at this year’s Met Gala. Both Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds have yet to address the reason for their absence.
