Rebecca Gayheart addressed her current relationship with Eric Dane after filing to dismiss her 2018 divorce petition.

“We are best of friends, we are really close, we are great coparents [co-parents],” Gayheart told E! News on April 9, 2025. She added, “We really figured out the formula to staying a family and I think our kids are benefiting greatly from it and we are as well.”

She further stated, “I think it’s important to not look at a relationship that ends as a failure. It’s just a season. It wasn’t a failure. It was a huge success. We were married for, I mean, we are still married, but together for 15 years and we had two beautiful kids so I think that’s a successful relationship, and that’s how we look at it.”

Gayheart, 53, and Dane, 52, share daughters Billie and Georgia. She initially filed for divorce in February 2018, citing “irreconcilable differences,” and requested spousal support and joint custody. They never finalized the divorce and filed to dismiss the petition last month. Dane consented, and the Los Angeles court closed the case.

Despite frequent speculation about a romantic reconciliation, neither has confirmed their current relationship status. In recent years, they’ve vacationed together in Europe and Mexico with their daughters. Gayheart posted family photos from Paris in August 2022, captioning, “This is us, family vacay 2022.”

In 2020, Dane told PEOPLE, “My one regret is that I got the person I love most wrapped up in all that: Rebecca.” Gayheart previously said in 2018, “We’re doing our best. It isn’t easy… but we are trying and we are committed” (via US Weekly.) She emphasized returning to work as a role model for her daughters.

Recently Eric Dane shared his diagnosis of ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. In an interview with People, he stated, “I have been diagnosed with ALS. I am grateful to have my loving family by my side as we navigate this next chapter.”
