Nick Wright, host of FS1’s First Things First and his podcast What’s Wright?, has been open about his past friendship with Travis Kelce. The two used to hang out frequently, but ever since Kelce started dating Taylor Swift in 2023, their interactions have reportedly dwindled.
During a recent episode of Kelce’s New Heights podcast, Travis and his brother Jason discussed bringing on NFL salary cap experts. Jason mentioned Wright as a potential guest, to which Travis enthusiastically responded, “[Expletive] love Nick Wright.”
Wright appreciated the shoutout but admitted on his own podcast that he and Travis spoken much since Swift entered the picture. “Trav and I have not talked talked since he’s been serious with Taylor Swift, since he’s become a super-duper celebrity,” Wright said. He explained that he didn’t want to “bother” Travis during the football season, and last offseason, Travis was busy traveling with his pop star girlfriend.
Furthermore, an attempt to meet after the Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade was derailed by the tragic shooting incident in Kansas City. “Everything went askew,” Wright recalled. Despite the distance, he made it clear there’s no bad blood. “Appreciate the shoutout on one of the world’s most popular podcasts.”
He further added, “Also, to the ‘New Heights’ producers, I’ll do it. And I’ll waive my appearance fee just to help them out. They want someone to come on and really break down the cap. Nothing would thrill me more.”
All in all, while Wright and Travis may not chat as often as before, the mutual respect remains strong.
