Maurice Johnson has set the record straight that he wasn’t fired from Beyond the Gates. Several rumors about his departure began to spread when he was recently recast and replaced by Keith D. Robinson. While recasting is common in soap operas, Johnson’s exit raised eyebrows. This is because it came just a month after he joined the show.
Many speculated that his departure might be because of his alleged feud with co-star Daphnée Duplaix or acting issues. However, Johnson has addressed the rumors on social media, putting a full stop to all the ongoing misinformation. Here are all the details.
Maurice Johnson on whether he was fired from BTG over feuding with co-star
Maurice Johnson confirmed that he wasn’t fired for either of the rumored reasons—feud with Duplex or acting issues.
It was recently reported that Keith D. Robinson has replaced Johnson as Ted. Since Johnson didn’t immediately address his unexpected departure, speculation ignited among fans of the show. One widely circulated rumor was that Johnson had issues with his co-star, Daphnée Duplaix, who plays his on-screen wife, Nicole.
Johnson took to Threads to clarify the misinformation spread by an outlet, Sandra Rose, regarding his alleged off-screen drama with Duplaix. He said, “From the horse’s mouth….neither are true, so whoever Sandra Rose is didn’t get this from CBS or my co-star. Please don’t spread bs that someone pulled out of the air.”
Additionally, he dismissed the feud rumors, revealing that there have been no issues between him and Duplaix in another post. “The chemistry on screen reflects a lot and it’s definitely not problems. I’m just perplexed as to how one would automatically assume [a] professional, educated actor has on-set problems with the person who plays their spouse day in and day out. This is the problem when people want to be first and report something and start a whole narrative themselves,” he added. He advised verifying the news before publicly posting it.
Robinson’s Ted episodes will come out in May. Johnson also revealed that 30 more episodes are yet to go with him continuing the role, per his tweet.
He wrote, “You’ll have about 30+ more episodes to see if Dr. Ted ever goes shirtless. I’ll be back on your screen on Thursday! Thanks for the love and blowing the internet up over the weekend about ya boy!” His tweet was followed by hashtags #MauriceJohnson #TeamTed #AnnouncementSoon.
