What Happened to Lizzo & Yung Miami? Weight Drama Explained

Lizzo recently addressed Yung Miami‘s comments about her weight during an interview with Shannon Sharpe. Miami referenced Lizzo while discussing the body image and the criticism women face. However, her choice of words sparked controversy.

Here’s how Lizzo reacted.

Lizzo and Yung Miami talk out the ‘weight’ comment

Lizzo recently addressed Yung Miami over comments made during an appearance on Club Shay Shay with Shannon Sharpe. While discussing how women’s bodies are constantly criticized, Yung Miami referenced Lizzo’s weight loss and used the word “ew” in the conversation. The remark caught Lizzo’s attention, leading her to call Yung Miami directly for clarification.

During the call, Lizzo asked whether Yung Miami was suggesting she had gotten “too little” after losing weight. Yung Miami quickly denied any ill intent, explaining that her comment wasn’t meant as an insult but to highlight the constant scrutiny women face over their bodies. She clarified that her “ew” comment was about how online critics previously shamed Lizzo for her weight. However, after her transformation, some still find reasons to be negative.

Miami said, “Before you lost the weight, people would be like she should lose weight, she too fat, that shit not cute, that’s what I was pertaining to.” She added, “Everybody says you look good, but then you have the five percent that say she looks better fat.”

During the interview with Shannon Sharpe, Yung Miami spoke about the impossible beauty standards women face. She said, “If you natural, they hate you, if you got a BBL they hate you… What do you want?” She used Lizzo as an example to show how people always find something to criticize. Miami pointed out that when Lizzo was bigger, people told her to lose weight. However, now that she’s slimmer, they still have negative things to say. She expressed frustration over the constant judgment and said, “It’s like, ‘Oh My God,’ ew. Pick a side. What do you want?”
