However, their bond on and off the field has won hearts all over the internet. Since making their debut with the Kansas City Chiefs, the duo’s bond has deepened over the years while playing together. Are Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes friends?

Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes’ deep bond is evident from their gestures toward each other.

Kelce became a part of the KC Chiefs in 2013, while Mahomes joined the team in 2017. In a 2022 appearance on the New Heights podcast, hosted by Travis Kelce and his brother Jason, Mahomes disclosed when he felt he and the tight-end would become good friends. He said, “I get here at the beginning of the year [and] I’m still a rookie, so I’m kind of going through the motions and try to figure out the best way to fit in and I think the first time I thought me and Travis were gonna be connected … was [after] the fourth preseason game.”

Since then, Kelce and Mahomes have appeared to be good friends in the media. They have accompanied each other to many events like the red carpet of Netflix’s Quarterback docuseries, and the American Century Championship golf tournament, among others. In March 2024, the duo also teamed up to launch the 1587 Prime Steakhouse.

Mahomes has also expressed his opinion about Kelce after they won against the LA Chargers in December 2024. According to a report by People Magazine, he referred to Kelce in his speech and said, “He means the world to me. He’s a guy that has really kind of made me who I am in my career. He’s a true leader on the football field.”

Following the KC Chiefs’ loss against the Eagles at the 2025 Super Bowl, Mahomes and Kelce displayed their bond, which made its way to the internet. In a clip posted by the NFL on X (formerly Twitter), they can be seen embracing each other as Mahomes says to Kelce, “Love you, brother.” In reply, Kelce echoed the same thoughts and added, “I owe you a lot for what you’ve done.”
