Fox News host Jesse Watters has once again stirred controversy after referring to President Donald Trump as “daddy” during a recent broadcast. The remark, made during Primetime, follows similar comments earlier this month that had already drawn attention to Watters’ language.
Jesse Watters addresses Donald Trump as ‘Daddy’
Fox News’ Jesse Watters has again drawn attention for on-air remarks in which he referred to President Donald Trump as “Daddy.” The comments have since gone viral online and prompted backlash from some viewers.
The latest remark came on Jesse Watters’ Primetime while the host played footage of Trump returning to the United States on January 19. Watters quipped, “I bet Al’s already started drinking because Daddy’s about to land and Daddy has needs,” a line that quickly spread across social media. It prompted renewed criticism for his on-air language (via The Express).
The comment followed a similar exchange earlier in the month on Fox’s panel show The Five. During the panel, Watters used the nickname several times while discussing Trump’s interest in bringing Greenland under U.S. control. Greenland, a self-governing territory of Denmark, has rejected the proposal, and Danish officials have publicly opposed the idea.
During that segment, Watters asked, “NATO called Trump ‘daddy.’ Why won’t they give daddy what he wants?” His co-host Jessica Tarlov pushed back, replying, “Because sometimes daddy needs to be told no. That’s just the facts on the table.”
Watters challenged her, asking, “By who?!” Tarlov responded that resistance was coming from Danish leaders and Greenland’s government, adding that such a move could have serious diplomatic consequences. “They’re saying NATO will disband if this happens. It will be an attack on a NATO country,” she said. “Whose side are you on?” Watters shot back.
Fox News has not publicly commented on the reaction to Watters’ on-air language.
