Tessa Thompson offered some unique yet kind words for her Thor co-star Chris Hemsworth and director Taika Waititi. During a Q&A session at the BFI London Film Festival, she praised Hemsworth, saying (via Variety):

Thompson remarked that the Australian actor is “a baby with muscles, a very big infant,” who has “no inhibitions.” She added that the 42-year-old actor “will just do anything, you know, to get the laugh and to discover, so it’s a pleasure to work with him,” praising the Thor star.

It seems “infant” is Thompson’s favorite description, as she used similar words for Taika Waititi. She described Waititi as “a huge infant, just, he’s like an infant with a bank account.”

She also praised his childlike enthusiasm for filmmaking, revealing, “It’s terrifying.” Furthermore, Thompson added, “He should be stopped,” implying that his childlike love for cinema has no limitations. Notably, the 42-year-old actress has shared the screen with Hemsworth in Avengers: Endgame, Thor: Ragnarok, and Thor: Love and Thunder, portraying the role of Valkyrie (or Val) in the films.

She also discussed her experience working on big-budget Marvel productions and why she sought that opportunity in her acting career. “It’s so goofy making those movies sometimes,” Thompson confessed.

She likened the experience of making action-packed Marvel films to that of a child. “The mechanism of making those films requires a place of pure imagination, you know, where you just have to play like a kid,” she said.

Thompson is known for balancing her career between intimate indie dramas and large-scale blockbusters. She explained her desire to take on a big-budget Marvel film, saying she wanted to test her ability to handle a production of that scale.

“I really wanted to make a movie like that because I’m not sure I can do that, and I really want to figure out if I can. And it was just so fun. It really, really freed me up,” the Hedda star said.
