A source close to Kristin Cabot clarified the relationship she and Andy Byron shared at the time of controversy.
They revealed that the duo had no affair but a good friendship and professional bond. “Kristin and Andy [Byron] had an excellent working relationship, a great friendship. There was no affair,” the source claimed. They further acknowledged that Cabot takes accountability for engaging in a hug with her boss, but the effects of the scandal have been bad.
“It was inappropriate to be hugging your boss at a concert, and she accepts full responsibility for it. But the scandal, the downfall, the loss of the job — all of that is unfair,” the insider clarified.
The source further stated that Cabot was mislabeled as “homewrecker.” Further elaborating on the effects of the controversy on their entire families, the source added that it was “unfathomable.” They said, “It’s unfathomable to witness what has happened, and how devastating it can be, for not just individuals, but entire families. Following the viral Coldplay kiss cam scandal, Cabot, who worked as chief people officer at Astronomer, resigned from her position in July 2025. Her exit came after Byron, who also quit his CEO position. Chief product officer and co-founder, Pete DeJoy, was appointed as interim CEO.
After assuming the role, DeJoy said in a statement, “The events of the past few days have received a level of media attention that few companies… The spotlight has been unusual and surreal for our team and, while I would never have wished for it to happen like this, Astronomer is now a household name.”
