Jason Momoa’s Lobo Plot in Supergirl Possibly Revealed

Jason Momoa’s long-awaited debut as Lobo in DC Studios’ Supergirl has led to intense curiosity after the character appeared briefly in the film’s first trailer. Now, new reports from multiple scoopers have shed light on where Lobo fits into the story and what audiences can expect from his role.

Jason Momoa’s Lobo isn’t a villain in Supergirl

With Supergirl heading toward a theatrical release on June 26, DC Studios has reportedly already begun testing the film with early screenings. While the trailer offered only a split-second look at Jason Momoa as the intergalactic bounty hunter, a new rumor now claims Lobo plays a clear supporting role rather than serving as a primary villain.

Scooper MyTimeToShineHello shared on X (formerly Twitter), “Lobo has a supporting role in Supergirl, they meet while he’s hunting a bounty and he helps her. I hear Momoa is amazing in the role.” This suggests that Lobo enters the story organically through his line of work and ultimately teams up with Kara Zor-El instead of standing in her way.

Additional insight came from Cryptic4KQual, who shared that Supergirl has already undergone a test screening with a reported runtime of roughly two hours and five minutes. According to the scooper, “Yes, Supergirl had a test screening. Roughly 2 hours 5 mins. From what I heard, feedback was not that great but it wasn’t a bad film. Some scenes shined alot more than others. Milly is praised for her acting in the role. Lobo has 2 fights. The villain is underwhelming.”

A major takeaway from this report is that Lobo reportedly has two fight scenes despite his supporting status. The same report notes that Milly Alcock’s performance as Supergirl has been widely complimented, even if reactions to the overall film remain mixed at this early stage.

Lobo’s involvement aligns with Supergirl being based on Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow by Tom King and Bilquis Evely, though the character does not appear in the original comic. The movie appears to adapt elements of the story while expanding the scope by introducing bounty hunters and interstellar threats, creating space for Lobo’s debut.
