Sabrina Carpenter Met With Disney for Tangled: Report Reveals Verdict

A new rumor about Disney‘s Tangled live-action remake has brought the project’s casting discussions into focus. The latest claims outline what reportedly happened during Sabrina Carpenter’s meeting for the role of Rapunzel and why the studio may be looking elsewhere. Attention now centers on how these details shape the next steps in Disney’s selection process.

New rumor hints Sabrina Carpenter’s Tangled meeting with Disney

Sabrina Carpenter was reportedly in talks with Disney for the role of Rapunzel in the live action Tangled remake that is currently in development.

According to a post by @MyTimeToShineHello on X (formerly Twitter), “Yes, Sabrina Carpenter had a meeting with Disney about playing Rapunzel in the live action Tangled movie. However, the company felt she was ‘too pretty’ and wanted someone who looks a bit more ordinary for the role.” The post also stated that Bella Hadid “also auditioned for the part but did not get it.”

Carpenter previously stood among the frontrunners for Rapunzel because she has a history with Disney. Disney moved the Tangled remake forward after Lilo and Stitch succeeded, following an earlier pause that Snow White’s performance prompted. The casting process continues as the studio discusses potential candidates.

Bella Hadid confirmed in a Vogue feature that she auditioned for Rapunzel, saying, “I was really proud of my scene. The singing… I knew they were going to go with a real singer, but I will show you my audition scene later.”

Industry coverage identified Florence Pugh earlier in 2025 as a major contender for the role while she participated in other Disney productions. More recent speculation also links an unnamed actor from The White Lotus to the casting pool, with no additional details made public.

The original Tangled film has an IMDb score of 7.7 and holds a Tomatometer score of 89 percent.
