A long-awaited streaming update has arrived for an acclaimed drama led by Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie. The project, often described as one of their most overlooked collaborations, is set to debut on Netflix in December.

Babylon (2022) will arrive on Netflix on December 7 as part of the service’s December lineup in the United States (via What’s on Netflix).
The film is written and directed by Damien Chazelle. It stars Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Diego Calva, Jean Smart, Jovan Adepo and Li Jun Li. The premiere took place at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater on November 14, 2022. Its United States theatrical release followed on December 23, 2022.
The story follows actors, musicians and studio workers during Hollywood’s shift from silent films to synchronized sound in the late 1920s. Jack Conrad, Nellie LaRoy and Manuel “Manny” Torres lead the narrative as they face new production demands and a rapidly changing studio environment. The cast also features Irving Thalberg, William Randolph Hearst, Lady Fay Zhu, Sidney Palmer and Constance Moore.
Production took place in Los Angeles from July to October 2021 after a pandemic delay. Linus Sandgren oversaw cinematography. Tom Cross handled editing while Justin Hurwitz composed the score.
The team used Shea’s Castle for exterior scenes. The Ace Hotel Los Angeles provided interior locations. Blue Sky Ranch served as the Kinoscope Studios lot. The film runs 189 minutes and lists Paramount Pictures, C2 Motion Picture Group, Marc Platt Productions, Wild Chickens Productions and Organism Pictures as producers.
Babylon holds a 57 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes based on 363 reviews. It also holds a 61 score on Metacritic from 63 critic reviews. The worldwide box office total reached $63.4 million. Its production budget ranged between seventy eight and eighty million dollars.
The digital release arrived on January 31, 2023, followed by its Paramount Plus debut on February 21. Physical editions released on March 21, and Netflix now adds the film to its December slate.
