An industry insider revealed early details about a new Marvel project in development. The source hinted that an unexpected hero from the comics may soon join the MCU, teasing Marvel’s plans to introduce a unique power set and explore a darker corner of its universe.
Marvel hero Doorman could debut in an upcoming Marvel project
Insider MyTimeToShineHello shared on X (formerly Twitter), “The superhero Doorman will appear in an upcoming Marvel project. Any guesses?” Marvel has not confirmed which project will feature the character, but online speculation points to Wonder Man or Avengers: Doomsday as possible debuts.
John Byrne created Doorman, also known as DeMarr Davis, who first appeared in West Coast Avengers #46 in March 1989. As a mutant and member of the Great Lakes Avengers, Davis teleports others through solid matter by turning his body into a dimensional gateway linked to the Darkforce Dimension. The cosmic entity Oblivion later transformed him into its “Angel of Death,” granting him powers such as flight, invulnerability, and death perception.
In Marvel Comics, Doorman often mixes humor with tragedy. He died fighting the villain Maelstrom and later returned after Oblivion resurrected him. After his revival, Doorman guided souls between life and death. His Darkforce teleportation, intangibility, and cosmic awareness allow him to perceive beings moving between those realms.
The character is part of the Great Lakes Initiative, a government-recognized superhero team based in Wisconsin. The group once registered under the Superhuman Registration Act. Doorman has worked with Mr. Immortal, Flatman, Big Bertha, and Squirrel Girl in several comic runs.
If adapted for screen, Doorman’s Darkforce connection could link to existing MCU storylines. His powers tie into Cloak & Dagger, Doctor Strange, and Monica Rambeau, all of whom share ties to the same mysterious energy realm.
Marvel Studios has not officially commented on or confirmed the report.
