Biden, Harris, Clinton React to Trump Gaza Peace Deal

Top Democrats including Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and Bill Clinton have reacted to the Trump peace agreement between Israel and Gaza in a surprising way. The US-brokered ceasefire deal in the Middle East has resulted in the release of Israeli hostages in Gaza and Palestinian prisoners and detainees in Israel. The White House believes that this agreement opens “a new chapter for the region defined by hope, security, and a shared vision for peace and prosperity.” In a rare bipartisan moment, several former Democratic presidents and vice presidents have shared this sentiment.

Trump calls Clinton praise “very nice”

Joe Biden, in a statement on X (formerly Twitter), took credit for his Administration working “to bring hostages home, get relief to Palestinian civilians, and end the war” before commending President Trump and his team “for their work to get a renewed ceasefire deal over the finish line.”

In a similar statement on X by former Vice President Kamala Harris, she praised “the leaders and partners whose efforts made this agreement possible, including the President and his team.” However, she believes that much more will need to be done to “build a future where Israelis and Palestinians can live side by side in freedom and security.”

Meanwhile, Bill Clinton applauded the collaborative effort by “President Trump and his administration, Qatar, and other regional actors.” While he calls this peace deal a “fragile moment,” he hopes it will lead to peace for both Palestinians and Israelis.

Trump reacted to Bill Clinton’s praise while speaking with reporters on Air Force One, per CNN, saying that his words were “very nice, actually” and that Clinton was “telling the truth.” The President also remarked on his past relationship with the Clintons, recalling that “he used to be a friend of mine, came to my wedding, you know, so did she,” referencing his wife Hillary Clinton.
