While Paramount has yet to officially green-light a sequel for the Resurrection series, Phillips put all speculations to rest by stating, “Michael [C. Hall]’s got a three-year deal. I’ve got a three-year deal. We’re gonna be making this.”

He then outlined the production schedule of Dexter: Resurrection Season 2, noting, “We’re going to be shooting next summer. We’re going to be shooting next spring. The writing room opens October 6.”

Phillips continued, “We will write through the holidays into early spring, and then we’ll start soft prep, meaning planning the stages and the sets and locations, and then begin the casting process, and take it from there.”

Phillips also clarified that despite his defined plans for the filming of Season 2, the follow-up edition “won’t be airing next summer.” Going by the seasoned television writer’s comments, fans can expect the Resurrection sequel to come out either towards the end of 2026 or sometime in the first half of 2027.

Talking about whether Resurrection Season 2 will feature any characters from the canceled Dexter prequel series, Original Sin, Phillips remarked, “I can’t say no to that – there always is [a chance]. Sometimes it’s in the writing room. Sometimes it occurs to me in editing. So I’m not saying no to anything.”
