According to a new rumor, the viral Avengers: Doomsday “leak” about Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man might not be what some fans think it is. Avengers: Doomsday is one of the most highly anticipated movies of 2026. It already features over 25 confirmed cast members, and Marvel has stated multiple times that there are more cast members yet to be revealed.
This has led people to speculate about whether various characters from earlier projects will appear in Doomsday, including Maguire’s Spider-Man. Earlier this month, a collage of Maguire and other actors during make-up, allegedly from the Doomsday set, circulated online.

Industry scooper @MyTimeToShineH took to X (formerly Twitter) to share that the image they shared earlier was fake. “I’ve confirmed that this photo is indeed fake. Sorry to disappoint,” the scooper wrote while quoting their earlier post that included the collage mentioned above.
The image, initially presumed as a “leak” from the Doomsday set, featured Maguire, Channing Tatum, and more. Notably, Tatum has been confirmed to return as Remy LeBeau / Gambit in the movie.
There has been considerable speculation about the legitimacy of the collage, with many claiming that it’s real. Among those claiming that it was fake, some wondered whether it was made using AI.
At the time of this article’s writing, Maguire is not an official part of the Doomsday cast. He has previously portrayed Peter Parker / Spider-Man in Sam Raimi’s trilogy based on the superhero and the 2021 MCU feature Spider-Man: No Way Home. He also appeared in an archival footage in the 2023 animated feature Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
