Sadie Sink previously responded to casting rumors in March during an appearance on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast when asked about playing Jean Grey. She said, “This is news to me. This is news to me. No, I have nothing to say about this. The rumours are really cool, though. It’s an awesome rumour. I know the character. It’s a great character, so that was cool to read.”
Her comments followed months of speculation linking her to characters such as Jean Grey, Mayday Parker, Gwen Stacy, Rachel Cole-Alves, and even Mary Jane Watson. Reports suggest that Sink could play a character connected to Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker. Some theories claim she may portray his daughter. Another possibility is Jean Grey in her early Marvel Girl form, before joining the X-Men.
Den of Nerds added that Kang the Conqueror “kind of” erased the mutant gene from characters like Jean Grey. This could explain why the X-Men have been absent from the MCU so far.
Other rumors point to Sink taking on a dual role, with one version of her character revealed as the film’s villain. With Tombstone reportedly appearing in the movie, another theory suggests she could portray his daughter Janice Lincoln, also known as The Beetle.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, Spider-Man: Brand New Day stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, Sadie Sink, Michael Mando, Tramell Tillman, and Liza Colón-Zayas.
