In the emotional finale of The Summer I Turned Pretty, Conrad travels to Paris intending to surprise Belly. However, upon seeing that Belly seems to have moved on, he downplays his visit, claiming he is in the city for a conference in Brussels.
Despite her initial hesitation, Belly agrees to spend the day with him, guiding him through the streets and landmarks of Paris. Their connection rekindles naturally as they enjoy, explore, and share quiet moments together. That night, Conrad and Belly end up sleeping together. But, soon after, Belly starts pulling away and acting distant. As Conrad confesses his feelings, a vulnerable exchange unfolded between the two.
Belly asks, “What if you only loved me because that’s what your mom wanted?” Conrad assures her, “I have tried everything not to love you. The way that I feel about you has nothing to do with my mom. If I met you for the first time tonight, I would still love you.” Belly admits to feeling unsure about everything. Conrad leaves her with a quiet, “Happy Birthday, Belly,” and walks away, visibly emotional.
Later, Belly realizes that her feelings for Conrad haven’t changed over the years and that she still loves him. However, at this moment, Conrad was already preparing to leave for Brussels. Belly desperately rushes to the train station and catches up to him just in time. She confesses, “Conrad…I choose you of my own free will. If there are infinite worlds, every version of me chooses you in every one of them.”
With that, the two finally reunite and return together to the Cousins as couple, ending the series on an emotional note.
