The Toxic Avenger’s Elijah Wood Hints at Plot Details for Ready or Not 2

As horror comedy fans eagerly wait for the release of Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, Elijah Wood has shared certain plot details about the film, including the timeline of the sequel. In a recent interview, the Lord of the Rings star briefly opened up about the themes that the sequel to the 2019 film will explore, while also talking about when the sequel will take place in relation to its predecessor.

Elijah Wood says Ready or Not 2 takes place right ‘after the first one ends’

While speaking with Bloody Disgusting about the new Toxic Avenger film, Elijah Wood shed light on how Ready or Not 2 builds upon the mythology of the original film before revealing the timeline of the sequel’s plot.

Firstly, Wood shared his appreciation for Ready or Not as well as its directors, noting, “I’m a big fan of Radio Silence. I love their films, I love the original. I think Ready or Not is a total blast.” He also lauded the cast of the movie, stating, “I love Samara [Weaving] in that film. I love the cast of that movie and the kind of nugget of the mythology that you get.”

The Screen Actors Guild Award winner then teased minor details about the plot and the timeline of Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, noting, “What I love about this sequel is that it really deepens that mythology, so I’m stoked for people to see it. It’s a movie that takes place almost immediately after the first one ends and enriches everything you love about the original film.”

In addition to Wood, Ready or Not 2 also features Kathryn Newton, Kevin Durand, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Olivia Cheng, David Cronenberg, Shawn Hatosy, and Néstor Carbonell, with Samara Weaving reprising her role as Grace. Directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett will also return to helm the sequel, with Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy serving as the film’s screenwriters. The movie is currently scheduled to hit theaters on April 10, 2026.
