Rumors are swirling about the direction of The Beekeeper 2. Recent reports suggest Jason Statham’s Punisher-like hero could face a towering new rival modeled after a Jack Reacher-esque character. Insider account @MyTimeToShineHello posted on X (formerly Twitter) that the production is searching for an actor to play “Le Chambeau.”
The character is written as a physically imposing figure meant to rival Statham’s Adam Clay. The description outlines a male in his 40s to 50s, standing over 6’5” and weighing more than 250 pounds. The description calls him “built like a god with an air of superiority,” combining “brains and brawn” with a relentless drive for revenge.
The official breakdown adds that Le Chambeau must carry both a savage and educated quality, with “stunt and/or fighting ability a plus.” This shows the sequel aims to expand its roster of powerful opponents.
It also aligns with director Timo Tjahjanto’s earlier comments about raising the scale of villains in the sequel. The filmmaker said, “Another thing that draws me is definitely the escalation of just how big the villains are in this film. So, you can wait for that.”
Tjahjanto also revealed that he views the franchise as his opportunity to create a Punisher-style saga with Statham. Speaking to ScreenRant, he said, “I’m definitely drawn to the Beekeeper series just because when I watched it, I always felt that, ‘Wow, this is essentially Statham playing one of my favorite characters in the Marvel universe, which is The Punisher.’” He added, “If I can’t make The Punisher film, if the Gods of film aren’t allowing me to do a Punisher film yet, then I’ll turn Adam Clay into my own version of The Punisher.”
Amazon MGM Studios confirmed The Beekeeper 2 is in development but has not set a release date. The search for Le Chambeau shows the production plans to add a powerful, central figure to the sequel’s storyline.
