The Perfect Couple Season 2 Gets Major Bad News in New Update

The Perfect Couple Season 2 has run into a setback, raising new questions about the show’s future. Recent reports suggest that key changes behind the scenes have left the project’s direction unclear.

The Perfect Couple writer exits Season 2

Joanna Calo, executive producer and co-showrunner of The Bear, initially joined The Perfect Couple Season 2 as writer and showrunner for Netflix’s planned adaptation of Elin Hilderbrand’s 2024 novel Swan Song. Now Deadline has reported, citing sources, that Calo has left the project, and Netflix has not yet named a replacement writer.

According to the media outlet, Netflix has been exploring the adaptation of Swan Song as a potential follow-up to The Perfect Couple. The story follows the Richardsons, who purchase a $22 million summer home on Nantucket, host extravagant parties, flaunt their wealth with two yachts, and attract attention from locals before scandal erupts when their home burns down and a key employee disappears.

Netflix still hasn’t confirmed The Perfect Couple Season 2

Despite ongoing development, Netflix has not confirmed a second season of The Perfect Couple. A representative for the streamer reportedly declined to comment on Swan Song or its chances of becoming Season 2.

The first season of The Perfect Couple, based on Elin Hilderbrand’s novel, premiered on September 5, 2024. The cast included Nicole Kidman, Liev Schreiber, Eve Hewson, Billy Howle, Meghann Fahy, Donna Lynne Champlin, Jack Reynor, Michael Beach, Ishaan Khatter, Sam Nivola, Mia Isaac, and Dakota Fanning. The series held a spot in Netflix’s Global Top 10 for English-language shows for six weeks.

Notably, Nicole Kidman and Susanne Bier remain attached as executive producers for the potential follow-up. They join Gail Berman, Per Saari, Shawn Levy, and Hend Baghdady. Jenna Lamia served as writer, executive producer, and showrunner for the debut season.
