The Office’s Creed Bratton on if He Is Coming Back for The Paper Spin-Off

A cast member of the NBC mockumentary sitcom The Office has commented on whether or not he will be a part of its spin-off, The Paper. Creed Bratton, who plays a fictionalized version of himself in the show, disclosed whether he will return in the Peacock spin-off. The Office aired on NBC from 2005 to 2013 and became one of the most successful situational comedies of all time. Its humongous success eventually led to the development of The Paper from The Office creator Greg Daniels and Michael Koman.

Creed Bratton says he ‘would’ve loved to’ feature in the The Office spin-off series

Bratton shed light on the prospects of his return in The Paper during an interview with Parade. When asked if the audience can expect a cameo appearance from his character in the spin-off, Bratton said, “No, not that I know of, but of course I would’ve loved to do it. I got to go on [Greg Daniels’] Download. I got to play a guy whose head was blown off.”

It’s possible that Bratton was speaking about the Prime Video sci-fi series Upload (also created by Daniels) when he apparently said “Download” in the above statement. He portrays Rupert Tilford in the inaugural season of the show. In Episode 3, Rupert experiences a nosebleed before his head explodes.

In the same interview, Bratton also reflected on how it was reuniting with former cast members of The Office for AT&T commercials and said that he had “a great time talking with all of the people behind the scenes.” He also said he would “absolutely ” tune in for The Paper.

“Domnhall Gleason – I mean, Ex Machina [in which Gleason featured], it’s one of my absolute favorite sci-fi movies,” Bratton added. “It was way ahead of its time with all the AI, robotic things. It kind of eerily rings true nowadays,” he further stated.

Notably, Gleason portrays Ned Sampson in The Paper. Its cast also includes Sabrina Impacciatore, Melvin Gregg, and Chelsea Frei. Oscar Nunez, who played Oscar Martinez on The Office, will also appear in the spin-off.

The Paper debuts on Peacock on September 4, 2025.
