According to a new rumor, The Fantastic Four: First Steps will confirm the existence of six villains other than Ralph Ineson’s Galactus in the MCU. The industry scooper who made the claim has also speculated upon the uniform of the titular superhero collective in a key scene of the movie.
Fantastic Four rumor reveals comic book villains in First Steps’ opening
Industry insider @MyTimeToShineH took to X (formerly Twitter) to speculate that The Fantastic Four: First Steps will include a fight between Mole Man’s monster and the eponymous team wearing their original comic book costumes. The scooper also claimed that the names of several other villains from the comics will be mentioned in the movie.
“Fantastic Four First Steps starts with: Puppet Master, Mad Thinker, Diablo, Red Ghost, Wizard all get name-dropped,” @MyTimeToShineH wrote. “They wear the original comic costumes to fight Mole Man’s monster. Black and blue.”
All six characters are associated with the members of the Fantastic Four gallery in Marvel Comics and made their comic-book debut in the ’60s. Writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby created Mole Man, Red Ghost, Diablo, Mad Thinker, and Puppet Master, and developed Wizard alongside writer Larry Lieber.
Paul Walter Hauser, who won a Primetime Emmy for his performance as Larry Hall in the Apple TV+ show Black Bird, portrays Harvey Elder, or the Mole Man, in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. This was confirmed in the first tie-in comic book for the movie.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps takes place in a 60s-inspired retro-futuristic iteration of Earth. Accordingly, it makes sense that the movie will feature and reference characters who debuted in the comics during that decade in the real world. Notably, Lee and Kirby also created Galactus, who debuted in Fantastic Four #48 in March 1966.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps comes out in US theaters on July 25, 2025.
