As per a new rumor, Laura Linney of Ozark fame has joined the cast of the upcoming Green Lantern series, titled Lanterns. While details regarding the much-awaited HBO Max show have been few and far between, its cast seems to be taking shape as the series’ release date inches closer. With Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre leading a star-studded lineup, recent developments indicate that Linney will be the latest addition to the Green Lanterns series.

According to insider Jeff Sneider, Laura Linney has joined the cast of the Lanterns in an undisclosed role.

During his recent appearance on The Hot Mic podcast, hosted by John Rocha, Sneider provided an interesting briefing regarding the cast of the live-action DC show, noting, “There’s been an addition to Lanterns. She is a three-time Oscar nominee and a four-time Emmy winner. I don’t know what the role is, but you can welcome to the DC Universe, Miss Laura Linney. Laura Linney has joined Lanterns I am told.”

Nevertheless, the scooper failed to specify the capacity in which Linney is joining the Lanterns cast. Sneider speculated, “Maybe she’ll be part of Lantern…Green Lantern Corp. Could you see her being the person who sends them to Earth? I don’t know.”

In response, host John Rocha stated, “Could she be playing Carol Ferris? Could she be playing Hal Jordan’s significant other?” before adding that she and Kyle Chandler “make a good couple.”

While DC executives have yet to verify Sneider’s claims about Linney’s induction into the Lanterns cast, it is important to note that the series will have the same showrunner as Netflix’s Ozark, in the form of Chris Mundy.

At the time of writing, HBO has not shared any update regarding the release date of the Lanterns series.
