After Tom Holland missed out on a nod in the five-hour-long cast reveal for Avengers: Doomsday, recent speculations have suggested that Spider-Man might just make an appearance in the upcoming Avengers sequel. Ongoing rumors indicate that the Uncharted star is currently holding talks for his much-awaited return to the MCU.

According to a popular internet scooper, the Cherry actor is seemingly vying to secure a part in 2026’s Avengers 5.
In their latest X (formerly Twitter) update, @MyTimeToShineHello noted, “Tom Holland is in talks to have a role in Avengers Doomsday.” Nevertheless, MTTSH failed to specify the kind of part Spider-Man will play in Avengers 5 if Marvel ends up confirming the wall-crawler’s involvement in the film.

Fans last witnessed Holland’s Peter Parker on the big screens in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home. Since then, the fan-favorite web-slinger has been missing from the MCU, particularly due to the complicated situation regarding the character’s rights.
While Sony Pictures has partnered with Marvel Studios on several occasions in the past, details about the present deal between the two entertainment giants remain under wraps. As such, it is difficult to validate any rumor regarding Tom Holland’s appearance as Spider-Man in forthcoming MCU projects, such as Avengers: Doomsday.
According to the present dynamics, Holland is set to reprise his role of Peter Parker no sooner than in 2026’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The movie will serve as a “fresh start” for the character, after No Way Home’s events erased everyone’s memory about Peter.
Brand New Day is currently on track to hit theatres on July 31, 2026, nearly three months after the Avengers: Doomsday premiere. Yet, it remains unknown whether the Destin Daniel Cretton directorial will take place before or after the events of Avengers 5. If the former happens to be true, there will be little chance of catching Spider-Man in the upcoming Avengers sequel.
With Marvel continuing to maintain secrecy regarding Tom Holland’s participation in Avengers: Doomsday, fans will have to wait for more updates to learn about Spider-Man’s fate in the MCU.
