Havoc director Gareth Evans, who also helmed The Raid and its sequel, gave an update regarding Part 3 of the movie. The Raid and The Raid: Retaliation came out in theaters in 2012 and 2014, respectively, and turned out to be highly successful at the box office. Both the critically acclaimed action thriller movies feature Iko Uwais as the protagonist.
Gareth Evans reflects on the prospects of The Raid 3
The Apostle director, who recently worked on the Netflix project Havoc with actor Tom Hardy, sat down for a conversation where he discussed the possibility of The Raid 3 happening.
Keeping fans’ hopes alive regarding the movie, Gareth Evans told Entertainment Weekly that meeting The Raid actor Iko Uwais after a long time in Indonesia helped him to get “a new concept for what The Raid 3 could be.”
The filmmaker said, “I haven’t dismissed it outright, and it might be a conversation to reopen. And it’s definitely something that if I was going to do it, I’d make sure that it was the right version of that film to make. I’d want to make sure that it was something that could live up to their expectations of what that could be.” He further stated that he was “very blessed to have such a lovely, supportive fan base.”
Evans also revealed that he had an idea earlier. However, he had to discard it as he was busy with other projects. The director conveyed, “Initially, I had a concept that would’ve followed immediately after the back of The Raid 2. It was set literally minutes after the second one finished, but then I got busy with other projects, and then, before I even had time to think about it, so many years had passed that I couldn’t do that version of that film anymore. So I kind of just left it and cast it aside.”
