AMC Renews Mayfair Witches Season 3 & Reveals New Setting

AMC Networks has confirmed the renewal of Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches for Season 3. The series, led by Alexandra Daddario as Rowan Fielding, will shift from New Orleans to Salem. The network expands the franchise with new creative leadership and a Salem-based storyline rooted in witchcraft history.

Mayfair Witches Season 3 renewed, to be set in Salem

Thomas Schnauz, known for his work on Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, has joined the series as co-showrunner. He will work alongside returning co-creator and showrunner Esta Spalding.

Season 3 will explore deeper elements of witchcraft mythology and introduce new spellbound families. It will also incorporate historical themes tied to Salem, the site of the infamous 17th-century witch trials. “A contemporary twist on the Salem story, it promises to be our most delicious yet,” said Spalding (via Deadline). The new setting follows the first two seasons, which were based in New Orleans, with the second season concluding on March 2.

Dan McDermott, President of Entertainment and AMC Studios, stated, “The drama and complexities of the Mayfair family continue to be an intriguing and enchanting source of story, and expanding that story against the backdrop of Salem, a historical haven of witchcraft, is an exciting next chapter.” Schnauz added, “The work I’ve done so far with Esta Spalding on season three has been fantastic and fun, and we’re hoping that translates to the screen for fans and new viewers of the show.”

Alexandra Daddario will return as Rowan, joined again by cast members Harry Hamlin, Tongayi Chirisa, and others. Rowan’s journey will continue after the season two finale, where she reaches a new level of power. Spalding told The Hollywood Reporter, “When you have the power she has you can’t just, as she says, sit on your hands and act like a good girl.”

Spalding, Schnauz, Mark Johnson, Michelle Ashford, and Tom Williams will executive produce season three.
