Five members of the Kennedy family have criticized the RFK Jr. announcement endorsing Donald Trump as a âbetrayalâ to their father and their name. In a speech on Friday, August 23, RFK Jr. announced that he would âthrow [his] support to President Trumpâ and suspend his presidential campaign as an independent. This has caused five of RFK Jr.âs brothers and sister to disavow him, saying that his endorsement for Trump is âa sad ending to a sad story.â
Five RFK Jr. siblings condemn his Trump endorsement
In a statement posted by Kerry Kennedy on X (formerly Twitter), a handful of RFK Jr.âs siblings members say that their brother has undermined the values of their family.
The message is signed by Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, Mary Courtney Kennedy, Mary Kerry Kennedy, Christopher George Kennedy, and Rory Elizabeth Kennedy. All of them support Vice President Harris and her running mate Tim Walz in the Democratic Party.
Kerry Kennedy has previously condemned RFK Jr., stating in July 2023 on the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights website that she found her brotherâs remarks âdeplorable and untruthfulâ about âCovid being engineered for ethnic targeting.â
In his news conference in Phoenix, RFK Jr. clarified prior rumors and said that he wasnât completely ending his campaign, but instead withdrawing his name in 10 battleground states. His name will remain on the ballot in other states. He also revealed that Donald Trump wished to enlist him in his administration during two separate meetings.
According to a source with CNN, RFK Jr. will campaign with Donald Trump moving forward and that their supporters want Kennedy to appear on Joe Roganâs podcast and Tucker Carlsonâs show to promote Trump. After RFK Jr.âs speech, Trump thanked him for a âvery nice endorsementâ and said he would be traveling to Arizona in the near future.
