Ex-Prince Andrew’s 2010 visit to Jeffrey Epstein has once again come under scrutiny after new photos and a new report challenged his public explanation for why he went and what happened while he was there.
During a 2019 BBC Newsnight interview with Emily Maitlis, Andrew claimed he “ceased contact” with Epstein. However, a new investigation reports that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor spent time inside Epstein’s Manhattan home during the December 2010 visit he previously described as a final, in-person meeting meant to end their relationship.
Investigation reveals error in ex-Prince Andrew’s claims about 2010 visit to Jeffrey Epstein
The Mirror exclusively reported new details from ex-Prince Andrew’s 2010 visit to Jeffrey Epstein’s home in New York City, referencing newly surfaced photos from the investigation. The new material shows the former duke in a social setting at Epstein’s townhouse. In the photos that have come from U.S. Department of Justice files, young women, who the U.S. authorities later identified as Epstein victims, were also present.
In one of the photos, Andrew sits with a girl on his lap inside Epstein’s residence, with her face seemingly redacted. Besides, the outlet described a second photo that showed Andrew sitting while another young woman stood behind him with her arms around the former Prince’s neck.
After being shown the pictures, one Epstein victim told The Mirror, “He told the world he went there to end the friendship, but what we now see is the opposite,” adding, “There were girls around, people laughing, drinks flowing.”
The victim continued, “It didn’t look like someone cutting ties; it looked like someone perfectly comfortable being there, reunited with his long-lost friend.” She concluded, “If he really came to end the friendship, he chose a strange way to do it.”
Andrew addressed his ties to Epstein in the 2019 BBC Newsnight interview, telling the interviewer, “Well, I ceased contact with him after I was aware that he was under investigation,” and adding, “I wasn’t in touch with him again until 2010.”
Furthermore, ex-Prince Andrew also insisted the 2010 visit to Jeffrey Epstein was to cut contact with him. But now, The Mirror’s investigation tells a different story.
