Sydney Sweeney‘s breakup from her now-ex-fiancé, Jonathan Davino, made news earlier this year, but the real story runs much deeper. The Wall Street Journal’s September issue shared inside details about how the actor really navigated through her split, besides sharing her bombshell photos from the shoot. While Sweeney herself declined to comment on the subject, director Paul Feig recalled how she handled work while her engagement was falling apart.
Paul Feig recalls Sydney Sweeney not bringing any ‘issues’ to set despite going through a breakup
Paul Feig, who is currently directing Sydney Sweeney’s “The Housemaid” thriller, recalled filming with her during her breakup. Writer Allie Jones, who worked with the star for The Wall Street Journal‘s September issue, revealed talking to Feig, who spent the first few months in New Jersey directing the upcoming film. He confirmed Sweeney’s love for work, her being “emotionally” present, and “just up for anything.”
The director disclosed to Jones that the “Euphoria” actor didn’t let her personal struggles interfere with their filming. “[Sweeney] really didn’t bring any issues to set,” he remembered about the initial few months when she and her former fiancé, Jonathan Davino, parted ways. Feig apprised that he knew “she was going through some things,” including her “engagement falling apart and breaking off” while they were working on their forthcoming project.
Despite going through her breakup, Sweeney had remained focused on her career and kept her personal life separate from work. During the earlier months of March and April, even when headlines speculated about her and Davino calling off their wedding, she “never” brought personal matters to the set. Feig even recalled checking up on her. “I’d say, ‘Hey, are you OK?’ and she’d go, ‘I’m fine, I’m great!’ but not defensively,” he told the publication.
As for Sweeney, she refused to comment on her former partner and their split, “I’m going to keep all of my personal stuff out of it,” she exclaimed.
