An upcoming book has claimed that Prince Harry‘s late grandfather, Prince Philip, used a cuss word after he tied the knot with Meghan Markle. Grant Harrold reveals the Duke of Edinburgh’s unexpected reaction in “The Royal Butler: My Remarkable Life in Royal Service.” The Telegraph recently reported an excerpt from the book about what happened after the wedding ceremony was over.
Harrold wrote that they watched Harry and Markle, as well as the other members of the British royal family, exit the chapel after “all the formalities were over.” The former royal butler continues to reveal what happened when Philip came out. The late duke turned to Queen Elizabeth II and said, “Thank f— that’s over.” The Duke and Duchess of Sussex tied the knot in a lavish royal ceremony at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in 2018.
Meanwhile, Harrold writes about the seven years he spent at Highgrove House in Gloucestershire as the royal butler. This was between 2004 and 2011. Harrold recalls the time when young Prince William and Harry resided there. The former butler was made redundant in May 2011 when the household began “scaling back operations.” Although the job had ended, he attended Harry and Meghan’s wedding years later.
The report notes that Harrold joined as a plus-one guest with Jack Stooks, whom he met at Highgrove. Back then, the latter was still working for the family. At the time, Stooks was among those invited to watch from the lawn in front of the chapel. This is how Harrold could witness Harry and Meghan’s grand wedding ceremony despite his redundancy.
