Royal correspondent Danielle Stacey suggested that the project aligns with Meghan’s long-standing love of holiday celebrations. “We know that Meghan has always gone big on celebrating the holidays, way back before she met Prince Harry, so it’s no surprise to hear she is releasing a special episode of her Netflix show in December,” she said.
Stacey added that fans may get rare insight into how the Sussexes blend family traditions in Montecito, noting Meghan once called her first Christmas at Sandringham “amazing” with “constant movement and energy and fun.”
Yet, as RadarOnline.com points out, critics say the timing feels insensitive because of her ongoing estrangement from her father, Thomas Markle. A source close to the Duchess claimed: “He will most likely end up watching the show on his own… But she doesn’t care. It’s almost like she is rubbing her dad’s face in their estrangement with this Christmas special.”
Her strained relationship with Thomas has drawn attention ever since her 2017 engagement to Harry. Despite ongoing criticism, she and Harry continue to build their media brand.
