Over a decade into her Lyme Disease diagnosis, Bella Hadid opened up about navigating through life and her successful modeling career in the thick of health issues. Talking to British Vogue as its June 2025 cover star, Hadid shared about enduring “excruciating pain” because of the condition that her mother, Yolanda, and brother, Anwar, also have.

Despite that and other chronic illnesses, the model seemingly has achieved it all, but it came at a price – guilt and burnout. In her interview, she detailed her everyday struggles and life from the top.

Bella Hadid shares guilt around navigating her health struggles

British Vogue wasn’t the first to learn about Bella Hadid’s complications due to Lyme disease. She has openly shared her journey with the condition and other ailments – depression, anxiety, ADHD, endometriosis, PMDD, PCOS – possibly to spread awareness and share constant health updates.

However, in her cover star interview with the fashion magazine, Hadid got candid about more downsides of her health struggles, including extreme burnout and guilt. Her ride to the top hasn’t been an easy one, and she appeared ready to come to terms with it.

“There are days that I felt down on myself for being so sensitive,” claimed the supermodel adding she’s always the butt of the joke for “overcompensating.” She pauses. Addressing people’s failure to understand chronic illnesses, she explained how difficult it is to even “take a shower most days,” before assuring readers that she showers daily. Hadid continued that sees something as mundane as getting into the shower and making herself breakfast on a day off “as an accomplishment.”

Giving more insights into her health and Lyme disease struggles, Bella Hadid shared a more relevant instance during her interview. She divulged that she “was in excruciating pain until 11 a.m.” before her sit-down conversation with the magazine.

“[I] had a very tough morning,” said the Orbella founder, revealing that she pushes herself to the brink during her 14-hour work days, and the aftermath “gets really bad.” Hadid added, “And then people see me on the other side, and it’s all: ‘Oh, my God, she’s this or she’s that.'”

The 28-year-old often speaks about her ongoing health struggles out loud, and her latest interview was one such occasion.
